Managing Shareholder Judd Lees has been asked to speak at ABC’s National Legal Conference on June 27, 2019 in Washington DC. Judd will be speaking about the risks and rewards of employing both union and non-union employees and the presentation will address joint and single employer liability, as well as employer withdrawal liability triggered by participating in defined benefit union pension plans. Judd is a past President of the Western Washington Chapter of ABC, a past Trustee for the Associated General Contractors of Washington, and Chapter Labor Counsel to two Washington State Chapters of Associated Builders and Contractors. Judd represented several contractor associations in a successful 20-year legal battle to open apprenticeship training to open shop contractors, and is currently representing several union and non-union multiemployer groups suing the State of Washington for fixing prevailing wage rates paid on public works to privately negotiated union wage rates.
