In the 2010 release of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Sebris Busto James earned Chambers and Partners’ highest ranking in the Labor & Employment Law category for Washington firms. The Leading Lawyers for Business publication ranks law firms and individual lawyers in bands from 1 to 6, with Band 1 being the best. There are also categories in which lawyers can be ranked as exceptional individuals.
Chambers described Sebris Busto James in the 2010 guide as follows: “[t]his premier labor and employment boutique is a favourite of clients, who value the big-firm expertise provided by its lawyers at the cost-effectiveness of a smaller firm. The team offers a range of services, including employment counseling, training, litigation representation, labor relations advice and collective bargaining.” According to Chambers’ sources, which include lawyers and clients, Sebris Busto James “gets us phenomenal results.”
With respect to “key individuals,” Chambers further states: “Mark Busto and Robert Sebris are the driving force behind the practice. Both are highly regarded as ‘exceptionally good, seasoned campaigners.’ They are joined in the rankings this year by younger partner Jeffrey James, who is praised for his ‘practical advice and counsel.’ All three attorneys are lauded for ‘avoiding the one size fits all’ mentality; these guys approach each case according to its merits.”
Each year, Chambers ranks leading law firms and lawyers in an extensive range of practice areas throughout the world. The results are compiled by full-time researchers that interview thousands of lawyers and their clients. The views of clients are given greater weight than those of attorneys.
